Ronald R. Carney – President and CEO
Mr. Carney has joined Bartronics America, Inc. (BAI), as President and CEO of BAI's RFID division.
He has over 30 years of business experience with small, medium and large corporations. An accomplished
high-tech executive manager, he began his entrepreneurial career with Harris Corporation in conjunction with additional
startup training from Venture First in 1993.
Based on this experience, Mr. Carney has founded, funded and grown two major wireless companies; Airnet Communications Corporation, which held its IPO in 1999 and reached a market capitalization of $1.2B on the NASDAQ; and Tantivy Communications, Inc., which was purchased by Interdigital Corporation. Mr. Carney also built an RFID company, Proximities, Inc., which was sold to Bartronics America, Inc., on February 1, 2008. World-class corporations and venture firms have invested over $160M into Mr. Carney's ventures. Over the years, Mr. Carney has built extensive domestic and international business presence in: North America, Europe, India and South-East Asia.
Holder of 12 patents, his technical knowledge is in the development of complex RF systems including software, hardware, ASIC development, Internet, and standards. George Gilder (Forbes writer) lists Mr. Carney as “one of the countries’ top four wireless visionaries” in the Wireless Review, December 15, 1998. Mr. Carney holds a BSEE/MSEE from the University of Akron and was pursuing a PhD at Case Western Reserve/University of Toledo when he left to join Harris Corporation.
